Defensive shapes

Soccer positions are organized into various formations, or shapes. Sometimes there’s a single last defender, called a “sweeper.” This player’s job is to “sweep up” balls that get past the main line of defenders. The diagrams show defenders (blue), midfielders (yellow), and attackers (red).
